“Girlfriends” Cancelled!
“Girlfriends,” which was created by Mara Brock Akil, has been cancelled by the CW and won’t return in the Fall of 2008. Honestly, it hasn’t been as good since Toni left, but it was still one of the few shows on television that featured Black women…and I watched it every week! The writers kept it real…every week they touched on topics that actually affect us…and were real about how we deal with them. I didn’t feel like the characters were just White characters played by Black women…they were really Sistahs. Honestly, I’m also going to miss watching what Joan had on…her gear, bags and shoes were BAD every week!
“Girlfriends” leaves the air as the longest running live action comedy show currently on television, having 172 episodes in the can. Both ”The Game” and “Everybody Hates Chris” were renewed. I will truly miss my “Girlfriends”! [E!online]

I’m going to miss the show. I was a little upset when I heard there wasn’t going to be a series finale…so much so I found out who to contact to send emails and call and blogged about it.

This is inexcusable– no series finale. Come Black people, do you think that Seinfeld or Friends could have gotten axed without the masses clamoring for closure. WE NEED IT AND DESERVE IT! I need that address and blog so that I can add my name and thoughts to it ASAP!!!!!!!
